Maria Montessori was born in 1870 in Italy and educated at the University of Rome. She was the first woman doctor to hold a chair of medicine in Italy. She was the top student in the school. During the year she worked as an assistant doctor in Rome with the children with disabilities, the children with development-delayed and with learning difficulties. She was able to meet, observe and do the research of those special-needs children. She started the research then and created a wide variety of special equipment for them and she was successful in educating those children. They had acquired the basic literacy and numeracy skills, and amazingly those children had past the exam which was held in the normal elementary schools. When everybody had still admired her achievement, she had already moved on to the next question: why the normal child can not achieve that which the disabilities can do? So she started her first Montessori school- the Children’s House. In that school she invented more materials for the normal children and she found that those materials can be work in the normal child. They can learn even better of course.

During that time she acquired other degrees in Psychology and education. She also went to lot of country. She had stayed in Germany, France, Austria, England, America, Spain and India.   Because of this kind of background, she was able to combine the knowledge of the medicine, the Psychology and education together. She saw the children’s education through scientific angel.
